Michael Howell teaches European and American history in the Upper School. Originally from Louisiana, Michael has a BA in history from Tulane University and a MA and PhD in history from the University of Georgia. In between undergraduate and graduate school, he served in the Navy. Before joining St. Andrew’s, Michael lived in Germany where he conducted research, edited and translated academic articles, and taught for the University of Maryland and the University of Augsburg. When he’s not teaching, Michael can generally be found doing something fun with his wife and two children, exploring Savannah, and travelling back to southern Germany, his home away from home.
