10.1.24

We are very pleased to share that electricity has been restored to Lower School as of 3 p.m. this afternoon! We loved seeing our Middle and Upper School students today, and Lower School students in childcare. We look forward to Lower School returning tomorrow, Wednesday, 10.2.24. We will have aftercare for PK- Grade 8 on Wednesday afternoon.

Beginning tomorrow, we will resume with the published school calendar. This includes our in-service day on 10.3.24 (no school for students, childcare available HERE) with classes resuming for students again on Friday.  And, we have a home Varsity Football Game Friday evening.

Students will receive updates from those leading extracurricular activities and athletics on any schedule updates or changes due to the disruptions of Helene.

We had a wonderful day with our students today and look forward to having our community back on campus tomorrow. We understand and appreciate that many families are still without power. We will continue allowing casual wear this week. SAGE is fully operational and so we will have lunch services ready for everyone. And, if you need the next few days to continue to regroup and recover, student absences for that reason are understood and excused. We are hoping for a speedy recovery for each of our families.

Sincerely,

We are feeling very grateful for our community. We do have power on the main campus (Middle and Upper School only). Our plan for Tuesday, 10.1.24, is:

  • Regular classes and schedule for Middle and Upper School students.  There will be NO aftercare available for Middle School students on Tuesday, 10.1.24.
  • We will have limited childcare for students in grades PreK3- Grade 4, but we will not be holding classes due to the lack of power at the Lower School. We are offering this to our faculty/staff first, and then ask that you only register your child if you are a first responder, work in a medical office/hospital, or are in urgent need of childcare and have no other options. Details and the registration link for childcare are available here.
  • Please bring your snack and lunch from home if at all possible. We are trying to get a food order in by tomorrow morning, but cannot guarantee its delivery before lunch services. We will have a limited amount of food and options for those who cannot bring their lunch, provided by SAGE.
  • We will run regular morning and afternoon transportation routes.
  • Information about practices and extra curricular activities will be communicated to students directly.

We will still have our teacher workday on 10.3.24, as this is also in respect to those in our community observing Rosh Hashanah.

We will communicate updates regarding the schedule and plans for Lower School students as soon as they are available.

We are excited to welcome back some of our students tomorrow, and remain hopeful we will be able to welcome the rest very soon. We recognize that no plan is perfect, and we appreciate your patience as we try to get back to a regular schedule.

Please NOTE: If we lose power unexpectedly tomorrow morning, we will not be able to have school and will send out a communication by 5:30 a.m. Please check your email and social media by 5:30 a.m. If you receive no communication, please plan for a regular day of school for Middle and Upper School.

Sincerely,
