Robin Hood, this year’s selection for the annual One Act play competition, is co-directed by Luke DeLorme ’22 and Kyra Stillwagon ’22. These two seniors are part of the International Baccalaureate (IB) theatre program and ready to take on the challenge of competing against other schools. St. Andrew’s has won first place the past three years at the region level, and these students know the pressure is on.
Kyra and Luke have taken on the challenge of directing their first production in stride. Their first task was to select a play that would excite students to audition. Other responsibilities included casting the production, blocking the scenes, and running rehearsals.
“This experience has allowed Kyra and Luke to take the skills they’ve developed throughout the IB course and apply them to a real-life situation,” said St. Andrew’s Theatre Director Katie Soper. “They have approached this collaborative project from multiple perspectives of creator, director, designer and performer. This creative freedom has really let them explore different avenues of theatre and find their own distinct style of performance.”
The regional competition is set for October 28 followed by the state championship a week later.
