Upper School

Upper School | Grades 9 – 12

Serving as the pinnacle of a St. Andrew’s education, the International Baccalaureate diploma program sets the stage for a rigorous, challenging, and creative experience both within and outside of the classroom. Our accomplished faculty provides a support system as young adults gain a wealth of academic experience, developing the confidence to surmount what lies ahead.

GUIDANCE

Personal Guidance

St. Andrew’s values the personal connections we make with our students as we help them navigate their formative Upper School years. Small group advisors guide students to achieve their personal and academic goals through both group and individual meetings. Advisors transition with their students, providing an individualized approach and consistent guidance throughout their time in the Upper School.
excellence
Pursuing Excellence
St. Andrew’s is one of only two independent schools in the state to offer the IB Diploma Program. This advanced coursework provides two program options: certificates in individual courses or the full diploma, an additional distinction in combination with high school graduation requirements. Both options provide rigorous coursework, better preparing students for life in a global society and success at the next academic level. All Upper School faculty are IB trained instructors that deliver foundational coursework in ninth and tenth grades and college preparatory coursework in junior and senior years, preparing our students to pursue excellence at all levels of study.
engagement
Personal Engagement
Students at St. Andrew’s have the opportunity to engage with life beyond the bounds of Upper School through various unique program offerings. All Upper School students participate in learning experiences that incorporate elements of creative, active, and service learning through our revised school service program to develop all aspects of student life. Experiential learning is also the focus of our sophomore internship program, allowing students to gain first-hand experience with professionals within the larger community. Our goal for all experiential learning is that students engage and reflect deeply on their personal experiences, growing into more thoughtful, well-rounded young adults.
pursing passion

Pursuing Passions

With opportunities in all facets of school life, St. Andrew’s provides experiences for students to find and pursue their passions. By connecting with others who share similar interests, students learn how to transform their ideas into actions and share them with the larger community. From chess club to athletics and the spring musical to mock trial we believe in developing passion through active engagement.

Freshman Flights

The second year of Freshman Flights has kicked off with the Class of 2026 spending the day exploring entrepreneurship. They visited local business owners that turned an idea and passion into area leading companies. Thank you to Candace Brodmann, Owner & Creative Director at Moss & Marsh; Savannah Bee owner Ted Dennard and his dynamic staff and Jessica and Michael Taylor of Key Bar for spending their valuable time with our students. Freshman Flights is an experiential program designed to acquaint students with industry sectors that are fundamental to our local economy, while allowing them to better understand the expanse of career opportunities in these industries.
