David Kelly, a native of Savannah, Georgia, teaches European history, Economics, and Theory of Knowledge (junior year) in the Upper School division and also sponsors the Upper School Quiz Bowl team.  Mr. Kelly earned a BA in History and English (minor) from Tulane University in 1991 and a MED in Social Science Education from the University of Georgia in 1995.  Drawn to education due to his enjoyment of learning and working with young people to develop intellectually, he began his teaching career in the Clarke County School District and at Brentwood School in Sandersville, Georgia, after which he joined the St. Andrew’s community in the 1999-2000 school year.  When asked, his most memorable moment at St. Andrew’s was when the Middle School football team, which he helped coach, won the 2004 SPAL championship in the a 46-44 “shootout” versus island rival St. Peter’s.
