Ian Sprague holds his BA in Creative Writing from St. Lawrence University and his Master of Fine Arts from the Stonecoast MFA program at the University of Southern Maine. Before coming to St. Andrew’s in 2011, he taught at independent schools for over a decade in Maine, Maryland, and South Carolina, offering a range of courses in literature, theatre, and philosophy. Over that time, he served as a Head Soccer Coach, Outing Club Director, Literary Magazine Advisor, and Theatre Director. In addition to his work in a traditional classroom, Ian enjoys leading outdoor education expeditions, taking students on backpacking, kayaking, and canyoneering adventures. When not at school, Ian is usually backpacking in the mountains with his dog, trying his best to “un-plug.”
