First grade is doing an in depth study of birds and has already made a quick connection with Rolee McCullar ’20 in the Upper School. Rolee is a true bird lover, spending time watching them, studying the species and caring for 14 birds at home. He paid a visit to first grade to introduce them to his one-year old parrotlet, Princess. By observing and learning about birds outside the classroom and in the local community, these students are acquiring an increased understanding about the lives of birds, as well as the animal kingdom. Look for more to come from this study of birds during the Lower School’s Passport to Knowledge program on March 13.
